A Darker Place is a suspenseful novel featuring Alexander Kurbsky, a Russian writer and ex-paratrooper who plans to disappear into the West, wary of the dangers posed by his homeland's security services. As he collaborates with a covert group for his escape, questions arise about his true loyalties, since he continues to work for the Russians and harbors his own hidden motives. Filled with complex characters and tense moments, the story demonstrates Jack Higgins' mastery of thrillers.
