Before The Frost

In "Before the Frost," a disturbing mass suicide in Guyana leads police to a gruesome discovery in the Swedish countryside, where a severed head and hands in prayer position are found alongside a Bible with handwritten corrections. As incidents of animal attacks occur, Inspector Wallander suspects these events may be connected to larger threats and encounters a group of extremists targeting perceived sinners. The story also introduces Linda Wallander, who begins her police career and becomes involved in the investigation, facing her own challenges along the way. This atmospheric crime story explores themes of fanaticism and justice.
