Der Trinker

This autobiographically inspired novel explores the downward spiral of a well-off merchant suffering from alcohol addiction. Erwin Sommer escapes his daily struggles into a dreamlike world dominated by alcohol, only to be repeatedly pulled back into harsh reality. His addiction ultimately leads to confinement in a psychiatric institution, where he confronts the true impact of his dependency on his personality.
