After Sasha and Jayhan's rescue, King Gavin learns of an impending invasion of Carrador. As 11-year-old Sasha and her brother Jondarion try to resume their lives, they face threats from their murderous aunt, Toriana, who will do anything to protect her throne. Sasha hopes to harness her amulet's power to confront her aunt and prevent the invasion, but her young, raw magic and the aid of her companions make the task daunting.
