Sekigahara and Shiroyama

The Battle of Sekigahara, fought in 1600, was a pivotal clash between two powerful Japanese armies that ultimately shaped the nation's future for over two centuries. Leading the forces was the warlord Ieyasu Tokugawa, who relied on a mix of traditional samurai and firearm-equipped soldiers, with strategic treachery playing a key role in the outcome. Following his victory, Ieyasu established the Tokugawa shogunate, ushering in a period of peace and stability, marked by significant changes to the role and status of Japan's samurai class and the country's subsequent isolation from the outside world.
