Introduction to the Gospels

After Jesus’ death, resurrection, and the Great Commission, his disciples travel across the Roman Empire sharing stories about him, which eventually become the written Gospels. By the 60s AD, as eyewitnesses pass away, these oral traditions are documented in the earliest texts—Matthew, Mark, and Luke—each presenting Jesus' life from unique perspectives, followed by the later Gospel of John. These writings, originally on scrolls and later in codex form, form the stable texts of the Gospels known today.
