Matria is a tiny, unique country where women hold complete authority, and slavery practices are embedded in its society, particularly concerning men. Photographer Daniel Donovan travels there to document the nation but quickly finds himself caught in a complex environment of dominance and submission, where escape may be more difficult than he anticipated.
