In 1713, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani was sent on a diplomatic mission from Georgia to France and Italy to seek Western support amid regional threats from neighboring empires. Known for his eloquence and erudition, Orbeliani aimed to persuade major European powers of Georgia's strategic importance and Christian commonality. Despite his efforts and the historical admiration for his diplomatic skills, the mission ultimately did not succeed.
