The Philippines Campaign of 1944-1945

During World War II, as American and Filipino forces faced defeat in the Philippines, General Douglas MacArthur and his team were evacuated by PT boats and B-17 bombers to Australia, where MacArthur famously vowed to return. Amid Japan's occupation of the Philippines and territorial expansion in the Pacific, Allied strategists devised plans to recapture key regions, including parts of the Philippines, to prepare for an eventual invasion of Japan.
