Cast out from his family estate, Sir Gervase Escot finds himself at Malling Castle, where he encounters Lady Elaine, a woman he was once set to marry. During his adventure, he rescues Lady Beata, Elaine’s rebellious sister, who is dedicated to the Church and carries a significant dowry to redeem her family’s honor.
