Bill's mysterious illness causes his body to become increasingly numb and paralyzed, despite his sharp mind. After nearly a month in the hospital, he experiences a miraculous recovery, but his limbs begin to move with a life of their own. As Bill's body is animated by an unsettling force, he finds himself still trapped and vulnerable within his own flesh, with a threatening presence lurking behind his apparent miracle.
