Brother Mambo

"Brother Mambo" is a memoir about an anthropology student who, after facing obstacles in his original research plan, embarks on a journey to live among the Pamakans, Africans who escaped slavery in Suriname and built a new community in the Amazon rainforest. Over more than three years, he immerses himself in their way of life, forming deep connections and gaining insights into their beliefs and societal changes. The narrative explores themes of cultural survival, adaptation, and personal transformation, culminating in his integration into the community and his new family ties.
