Hitch

Eldon Hitchens, a young man from Illinois, journeys to Tennessee to deliver the news of his father's death, only to find himself involved in a tense confrontation with a slave owner. He then sets off on the Oregon Trail with sixteen-year-old Rachel, whom he takes with him after an incident involving the slave owner. As they travel westward in a Conestoga wagon, they form friendships and become among the first settlers in the Willamette Valley.
