Set against the backdrop of the 1930s Southern Appalachian Mountains, "Where Dark Things Grow" follows fifteen-year-old Leo as he navigates a world of family hardship, folklore, and dark forces. When he uncovers an enchanted creature from ancient legend, Leo’s quest for justice and the search for his missing father lead to encounters with supernatural elements and threatening entities. With the help of his spirited friend Lilyfax, he must confront the evil unleashed and a mysterious kidnapping to protect those he cares about, blending horror, magical realism, and coming-of-age themes in a compelling narrative.
