The Indica

Arrian’s The Indica offers a detailed account of Nearchus’s 4,000-mile voyage from the Indus River to Persia, following Alexander the Great’s orders in 325 BC to explore uncharted waters and lands. Drawing on eyewitness and inherited sources, the work describes the diverse regions, peoples, and natural wonders encountered along the way, capturing both the challenges and discovery of ancient maritime exploration. This new translation preserves the historical richness and vivid storytelling of the original, providing insights into the ancient world's vast and mysterious frontiers.
