Viney Walker moves to the Great Smoky Mountains after her father's visit to her 19th-century utopian community, seeking healing from a broken engagement. There, she meets her cousins and begins a romance that attracts the attention of a vigilante group called the White Caps. As tensions rise, Viney becomes involved in a counter-vigilante effort, leading to a dangerous confrontation.
