This collection features five short stories set in Texas, including characters from the author's broader body of work, with stories unfolding in Galveston and Austin. Four of the tales serve as prequels to the novel The Children, showcasing a large extended family and their interactions. Additionally, the author has a related collection, Paris Shorts, Vol. 1, highlighting the same family cast in Paris. The author plans to continue exploring these characters and themes in future projects, including a Texas-based work-in-progress.
