Jem has harbored a dark secret since childhood: whenever she looks into someone’s eyes, she sees a number indicating their date of death, leading her to avoid forming relationships. Her life changes when she meets Spider, another outsider, and they plan a city trip together. As they wait to ride the Eye ferris wheel, Jem becomes terrified when she notices that everyone around her shares the same ominous number—today’s date—hinting at a possible terrorist attack in London.
