The Everyday Superheroes at the Elder Care Facility

On October 24, 2013, a small elder care facility in Castro Valley, California, known as Valley Springs Manor, was shut down by the Department of Social Services due to a range of serious issues, including inadequate background checks for staff and improper patient medication management. The facility’s approximately 20 residents were subsequently relocated to compliant homes.
