Requiem for the Last Indian

This novel explores an unlikely love story across generations between a Cree maiden and a descendant of early Scottish settlers in Northern Canada, unfolding over 300 years. It delicately addresses themes of love, redemption, and social issues such as racism and marginalization, while also tracing the land's transformation from a nature-centered existence to a world marked by trade and exploitation. Interwoven with legends, fantasy, and cultural dislocation, the narrative is inspired by the 1995 sinking of the Braer oil tanker off Scotland’s Shetland Islands.
