Aliya Scott travels to Tanzania to assist children and encounters a mysterious local belief that those with no skin pigment, called "zeru-zeru," have magical powers. When she goes missing, her father embarks on a journey to find her, uncovering surprising truths about her activities and the country’s complex blend of heritage, resourcefulness, and conflict. His quest takes him from the shadow of the Mukuyu Tree to Europe, as he tries to reach his daughter before it's too late.
