On the island of Le Devin, the villages of Les Salants and La Houssinière are divided by longstanding animosity, with a local tradition promising to restore what is lost through a simple ritual. Madeleine, a native of Les Salants, returns after ten years in Paris to find her father withdrawn and her hometown facing decline, echoing her own feelings of displacement. As she reconnects with the community and its struggles, she becomes part of a collective effort to seek survival and renewal.
