The Marriage Portrait

Set in 1560s Florence, this story follows Lucrezia, the young daughter of the Medici family, who is unexpectedly thrust into the political and social intrigues of the courts of Ferrara and Modena after her sister's death. As she navigates her new role and her marriage to Alfonso d'Este, Lucrezia faces the challenges of court customs, complex relationships, and her own feelings of fear and isolation. Amidst the grandeur of her portrait sitting, she must also confront the uncertain future that her noble status holds for her.
