This audiobook recounts the powerful story of British boy Jim’s four-year experience in a Japanese prison camp during World War II, based on J. G. Ballard’s own childhood in wartime Shanghai. It offers a compelling portrayal of survival amid hardship, internment, and war’s chaos, blending honesty with vivid, hallucinatory imagery. Rooted in personal trauma, it stands as a significant reflection on the human costs of war.
