Set in 850 AD at the dying Maya city of Tikal, this story follows Itzel, a young scribe's apprentice with the unique ability to read ancient glyphs, as she uncovers a mysterious codex revealing a potential way to halt a devastating threat. Buried beneath a temple, the codex hints at visitors from a dying world, mysterious technology, and a crucial key embedded in Itzel herself. She faces a critical choice involving ancient gateways and the survival of her people, set against a backdrop of Maya history and ancient extraterrestrial contact.
