Kiyoshi Tanimoto (1909–1986) was a Japanese Methodist minister and Hiroshima atomic-bomb survivor whose firsthand experiences were featured in John Hersey’s landmark book Hiroshima. He wrote his own English-language account of the bombing and its aftermath shortly after World War II; the long-unpublished manuscript was later recovered and published as Hiroshima, 8:15: The Lost Memoir. He also became an internationally known speaker and advocate for peace and nuclear disarmament.
