Ramona Emerson is a Diné writer and filmmaker from Tohatchi, New Mexico. After earning an MFA in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts, she drew on 16 years as an Albuquerque police-department photographer to write her debut novel, Shutter, a National Book Award–longlisted crime thriller. Her second novel, Exposure, continues the Rita Todacheene series, blending crime investigation with paranormal elements and Navajo cultural perspectives.
