Betty Firth is a British author who grew up in rural West Yorkshire and writes historical fiction set in the Yorkshire Dales, particularly wartime sagas centered on ordinary women, love, family and resilience. After studying English Literature at Durham University and working at The Dalesman magazine, she returned to Yorkshire, where she lives and writes. She also writes romantic comedies and mysteries under other pen names, including Mary Jayne Baker, Lisa Swift and Penny Blackwell.
