He heads Kagan & Associates and previously served as publisher, managing editor, and director of new product development at Time-Life Books, where he created series including Voices of the Civil War, Our American Century, and What Life Was Like. He has edited and contributed to numerous bestselling historical reference books for National Geographic, including The Secret History of World War II, Eyewitness to World War II, and Atlas of the Civil War.
