Andrew Solomon is an American writer, journalist, and lecturer whose career spans literary nonfiction, memoir, fiction, cultural criticism, and international reporting. He began with The Irony Tower: Soviet Artists in a Time of Glasnost (1991) and later published the novel A Stone Boat (1994), followed by the acclaimed memoir The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression and the nonfiction work Far from the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity. He has written for publications including The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker and won the National Book Award for Nonfiction.
