Neil Hayward is a British-born nature writer and birder based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After earning a Ph.D. in genetics and working in biotechnology and consulting, he turned his focus to birding and writing. His first book, Lost Among the Birds: Accidentally Finding Myself in One Very Big Year, recounts his record-setting 2013 quest to see 749 North American bird species.
