Joseph Welch is a Hannibal, Missouri author and retired attorney whose writing is strongly influenced by the Mississippi River, local history, and his experiences growing up in the 1950s and 1960s. He published the poetry and short-story collection Songs of Hannibal before releasing The Mayfly Boys: Summer of ’63, a nostalgic coming-of-age novel set in a small Missouri river town.
