Elizabeth Alexander is an award-winning American poet, essayist, memoirist, educator, and scholar whose writing explores race, history, art, family, and American society. She has authored or co-authored more than fifteen books, including American Sublime, The Light of the World, The Trayvon Generation, and Signals Across Vast Distances. She also composed and delivered “Praise Song for the Day” at Barack Obama’s 2009 presidential inauguration.
