Elizabeth Goudge (1900–1984) was an English novelist who began publishing fiction in the 1930s after working as a teacher of applied arts. Her novels and short stories blend romance, history, spirituality, and fantasy, often drawing on the landscapes and cathedral towns of southern England and the Channel Islands. She wrote extensively for both adults and children; her best-known works include Green Dolphin Country, The Little White Horse, The Dean’s Watch, and the Eliot family trilogy.
