LaVyrle Spencer was an American bestselling novelist who began her writing career in her thirties. Her first novel, The Fulfillment, was published in 1979, and she went on to write popular contemporary and historical romances, including twelve New York Times bestsellers. Several of her books were adapted for film and television, and she was inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame in 1988 before retiring from writing in 1997.
