Susan Cooper is an English-American author best known for The Dark Is Rising, a five-volume children’s fantasy sequence that won the Newbery Medal and a Newbery Honor. After working as a reporter and feature writer for The Sunday Times, she developed a career writing children’s novels, picture books, and middle-grade fiction, including The Boggart, King of Shadows, Ghost Hawk, and Victory. She has also written television screenplays and co-authored the Broadway play Foxfire.
