Amir D. Aczel was an Israeli-born American mathematician, professor, and bestselling author of accessible nonfiction about mathematics, physics, and the history of science. After writing university statistics textbooks and teaching at several universities, he built a long writing career explaining complex scientific ideas to general readers in books including Fermat’s Last Theorem, Entanglement, The Riddle of the Compass, and Present at the Creation. His books were translated into numerous languages, and he was a Guggenheim Fellow and visiting scholar at Harvard.
