D. S. Butler is the pen name of Danica, a British crime writer who studied for a PhD in biochemistry and worked as a research scientist before becoming a full-time author. She writes the Detective Karen Hart police-procedural series, published by Thomas & Mercer, and the self-published DS Jack Mackinnon crime series, as well as psychological thrillers including Her Missing Daughter and Lost Child. Her books have sold more than a million copies, and she also writes under the names Dani Oakley and Danica Britton.
