Edward Carey is an English novelist, playwright, and illustrator. He is the author of adult novels including Observatory Mansions, Alva & Irva, Little, The Swallowed Man, and Edith Holler, as well as the young-adult Iremonger Trilogy. His books are often illustrated by him, and he has also written and adapted plays for theaters in the United Kingdom and abroad; he teaches creative writing at the University of Texas at Austin.
