Anne Rivers Siddons (1936–2019) was an American novelist known for richly detailed stories about Southern women, families, social change, and place. After working as a writer and editor at Atlanta magazine, she published her first novel, Heartbreak Hotel, in 1976; it was later adapted into the film Heart of Dixie. She went on to write 19 novels, including Peachtree Road, The House Next Door, Outer Banks, Low Country, and The Girls of August, as well as nonfiction.
