Mary Balogh is a Welsh-Canadian author best known for historical romance, especially stories set in Regency-era England. She began writing while working as an English teacher and raising her family; her debut novel, A Masked Deception, was published in 1985. She retired from teaching in 1988 to write full-time and has since published more than one hundred novels and novellas, including the Bedwyn, Simply, Huxtable, Survivors’ Club, and Westcott series.
