Helen Fielding is a British novelist, journalist, and screenwriter best known for creating Bridget Jones. Her writing career began with the comic novel Cause Celeb (1994), while Bridget Jones originated in a newspaper column for The Independent before becoming the bestselling novel Bridget Jones's Diary (1996) and several sequels. She has also written screenplays for the Bridget Jones films and the comic spy novel Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination.
