Jonathan Coe is an English novelist whose first published novel, The Accidental Woman, appeared in 1987. He gained international recognition with What a Carve Up! and is known for literary fiction that combines political and social satire with comic, emotionally resonant stories about contemporary Britain. He has also written acclaimed novels including The House of Sleep, The Rotters’ Club, Middle England, Bournville, and Mr. Wilder and Me, as well as a prize-winning biography of B. S. Johnson.
