Pat Frank was the pen name of Harry Hart Frank, an American newspaperman, war correspondent, government consultant, and novelist. After working in journalism and the Office of War Information during World War II, he turned primarily to fiction, writing novels about war, nuclear danger, politics, and social survival. His best-known work, Alas, Babylon (1959), became a landmark post-apocalyptic novel; other notable books include Mr. Adam, Hold Back the Night, and Forbidden Area.
