Laurence Shames is an American novelist, essayist, journalist, and ghostwriter who began writing full-time in 1976 after working in journalism and contributing to magazines including Playboy, Outside, Vanity Fair, and Esquire, where he served as Ethics columnist. He is best known for his humorous Key West crime novels, including the long-running Key West Capers series, and was the ghostwriter of the New York Times bestseller Boss of Bosses. He also wrote Bad Twin under the pseudonym Gary Troup as part of the television series Lost's promotional fiction.
