M. M. Kaye (Mary Margaret Kaye, 1908–2004) was a British author born in Simla, India, whose childhood and adult travels across India, Africa, and Europe strongly shaped her fiction. She began by writing and illustrating children’s books under the name Mollie Kaye, then wrote mystery novels and sweeping historical romances, including Trade Wind, Shadow of the Moon, and her worldwide bestseller The Far Pavilions. She also wrote The Ordinary Princess and a three-volume autobiography, Share of Summer.
