Andrew J. Bacevich is an American historian, writer, and retired Army colonel who became a university professor specializing in U.S. diplomatic and military history, foreign policy, and security studies. He is the author, coauthor, or editor of more than a dozen books, and his essays, reviews, and opinion pieces have appeared in major scholarly, political, and general-interest publications. His writing critically examines American militarism, national security policy, war, and U.S. involvement abroad.
