Micah S. Hackler began writing screenplays in the 1980s and, after retiring as a U.S. Air Force major in 1993, turned to writing novels in earnest. His first novel, Legend of the Dead, was published in 1995, launching the Sheriff Lansing mystery series set in modern-day New Mexico. The series combines police investigations and suspense with Apache, Navajo, and Pueblo mythology.
