Stephen Alford is a British historian and author specializing in the political history of early modern Britain, especially the Tudor and early Stuart periods. He taught at the University of Cambridge for fifteen years before becoming Professor of Early Modern British History at the University of Leeds. His books include The Watchers, London’s Triumph, and All His Spies, and his writing focuses on monarchy, espionage, politics, and commerce in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century England.
