Melanie Rawn is an American fantasy novelist who began publishing with Dragon Prince in 1988. She is best known for the bestselling Dragon Prince and Dragon Star trilogies, and has also written the Exiles and Glass Thorns series, as well as standalone fantasy novels. Rawn studied history at Scripps College and worked as a teacher and editor before becoming a full-time writer; she has been nominated for the Locus Award three times.
